mass at reilig bhaile haiceid
D’eagraigh Cumann Staire agus Oidhreachta, Ghaeltacht na nDeise aifreann ar an Aoine 15ú Lúnasa i Reilig Bhaile Haicéid, An Sean Phobal. Bhí slua mór baillithe don t-Aifreann agus bhíomar beannaithe leis an aimsir. Léigh an tAthair Ó Ceallaigh S.P. an tAifreann, agus ba mhaith linn buíochas a gabháil le Cáit Keating as ucht na hoibre a rinne sí ar an áltóir. Leigh Mairéad Ní Chathbhuadhaigh, Una de Paor agus Proinneas Ó hInnnseadúin na léachtanna. Sheinn Bernadette Murray agus a hiníon Mary ceol don ceiliúradh. Bhí Hannah Power agus Mary Murray mar an lucht friothála.
Bhreathnaigh an reilg i mBaile Haicéid go hálainn ar an oíche agus ba mhaith linn buíochas a gabháil le Peadar Nugent as ucht iasacht cathaoireacha agus boird a thabhairt dúinn. Rinne Comhairle Chontae Phort Láirge an féar sa reilg a ghearradh le déanaí ag réiteach don oíche agus arís buíochas dóibh.
Tar éis aifreann, réitigh Mná na Tuaithe an tSean Phobail féasta le tae, cístí agus ceapairí i Halla Cholmáin, agus bhain gach duine taithneamh astu. Buíochas do Coiste Forbartha an tSean Phobail as ucht úsáid an Halla agus do mná an pharóiste as ucht an bácála agus ullmhú an halla.
Bhí an Aifreann ar siúl sa tréimhse roimh an Seachtain Oidhreachta.
Cumann Stair agus Oidhreachta Gaeltacht na nDéise organised a mass on Friday 15th August in Reilig Bhaile Haicéid, An Sean Phobal. A large crowd gathered for the mass and we were blessed with the weather. Fr. Kelly P.P. celebrated the mass, and we would like to thank Cáit Keating for the work she carried out on the altar. Readings on the night were by Máiread Ní Chathbhuadhaigh, Una de Paor and Proinnseas Ó hÍnnseadúin. Music for the ceremony was by Bernadette Murray and her daughter Mary. Servers were Hannah Power and Mary Murray.
The graveyard in Hackettstown looked lovely on the night and we would like to thank Peadar Nugent for the lend of chairs and tables. The graveyard had recently been cut by Waterford County Council in preparation for the night and again thank you to them.
Following the mass I.C.A. women of Old Parish prepared a feast of teas, cakes and sandwiches, which were enjoyed by all, in Halla Colmáin, thanks to Coiste Forbartha an Sean Phobail for use of the hall and to the ladies of the Parish for all the baking and preparation of the hall.
The mass was held in the lead up to Heritage week.
